- Incremental Patch from HWGRCS Patch Level 8 to HWGRCS Patch Level 10
- ====================================================================
-
- 1. After unpacking this archive you should have two directories:
-
- PATCH8TO10BIN
- PATCH8TO10SRC
- [There is no patch for the man pages]
-
- and this file plus 'SPATCH' and 'HANDLEPATCH' in the current directory.
-
- 2. Check if you still have the HWGRCS Patch Level 8 archives as can be
- found on Aminet. If you don't have them anymore, an unmodifed
- installation of them will be sufficient, too. "Unmodified" means "as
- unpacked". These files will not be modified by the patching process. You
- are safe here.
-
- 3. To put the tools 'SPATCH' and 'HANDLEPATCH' ito the path, execute this
- command when you are in the directory where this file is located:
-
- PATH "" ADD
-
- 4. You surely have the user package (the binaries). Do this:
-
- CD PATCH8TO10BIN
- InstallPatch
- [Then follow instructions]
- CD /
-
- [Note: With KS 2.04 you might need to use 'rx InstallPatch']
-
- 5. Archiving the patched result with e.g. lha gives you what would be found
- in a full release. This step is not automatic as you might not want the
- full Patch 10 archives. I suggest to create and keep them as backup,
- though.
-
- 6. If you also have the source installed, don't forget this:
-
- CD PATCH8TO10SRC
- InstallPatch
- [Then follow instructions]
- CD /
-
- [Note: With KS 2.04 you might need to use 'rx InstallPatch']
-
- 7. Archiving the patched result with e.g. lha gives you what would be found
- in a full release. This step is not automatic as you might not want the
- full Patch 10 archives. I suggest to create and keep them as backup,
- though.
-
- 8. You have now all the files needed for a full installation of Patch 10.
- Just copy them to their destination with "XCOPY ALL ..."
-
- 9. Try Patch 10 by setting the path and the RCS: Assign correctly. If you are
- satisfied you could delete your Patch 8 installation. Keep the archives
- for Patch 8. I cannot say if future patches are based on Patch 8, Patch
- 10, or whatever. Note that it is likely though that future patches will
- be based on Patch 10 if Patch 10 turns out to be stable.
-
- 10. Tell me about your experiences with the patch process.
-
- Good luck
